Treat for rugby fans as Wales captain Sam Warburton visits Tesco in Penarth
4:20pm Friday 5th October 2012 in News By Robert James Owen
WALES rugby captain Sam Warburton was at Tesco in Penarth Marina last week, meeting fans and signing autographs.
The Cardiff Blues star was promoting the fact that tickets for Wales' upcoming autumn internationals against Argentina (November 10) and Samoa (November 16) are available from selected Tesco stores across Wales - including the Terra Nova superstore.
The ticket initiative is intended to give fans instant access to tickets without the booking fees and postal charges associated with internet ticketing outlets.
Among the fans queing up to meet their hero last Wednesday evening (September 26) were local children Scott and Livvie Delnevo, accompanied by Simon Delnevo.
Schoolboy Scott said: “Sam’s my hero, I’m a massive rugby fan and It was great to meet him.
Simon added: “Scott’s gone all shy from the shock of meeting him I think!”
Available from their customer service desks, Tesco will be selling tickets for the Argentina game at £30 for adults and £10 for children. For the family-friendly fixture against Samoa, adult tickets are £25, and a family of four can watch the game for £70 with no extra charges.
The WRU ticketing initiative proved a success last season, allowing more than 12,000 fans to get their hands on tickets.
Twenty-three-year-old Warburton said: “This is a fantastic initiative for Wales fans and i’m delighted to be promoting it.”
