Penarth Marie Curie Hospice trekkers: Next stop Inca Trail - and you can take part...
12:10pm Wednesday 10th October 2012 in News
FOLLOWING the success of last year's Great Wall of China Trek, Penarth Marie Curie Hospice trekkers recently organised a reunion - to celebrate their achievements one year on.
The annual Hospice treks are a favorite for people from all walks of life looking to take part in a challenge whilst raising money for the local Marie Curie Hospice, and the dedicated group of 34 last year raised more than an incredible £130,000.
Local Penarth trekker Fran Johnson said: "The Great wall of China challenge was the maddest thing I have ever done, but I loved every minute - and if had to do it again I wouldn't hesitate!
"The challenge proved to be a life changing experience for me.
"So when meeting up at the one year reunion, I made up my mind to take on my next challenge - which is the Inca trail in Peru in May 2014.
"The money I intend to raise will again go towards the care given by the Marie Curie Hospice."
The next big adventure, taking place in May 2014, is open to all, and you could be part of a group traveling to Peru and trekking the Inca Trail, discovering the wonders of this South American region - and helping to support the work of Marie Curie Nurses.
Spread over 10 days, the Inca Trail challenge includes six days of trekking, taking in the sights of the former Royal Inca highway nearing the heart of the Peruvian jungle. The dramatic scenery, with its high landscapes and jungle backdrop, make this overseas challenge one not to be missed.
