LAST Friday, St Joseph's Primary School, Penarth, celebrated a combined Roald Dahl Day and Macmillan Cancer Support coffee morning, raising £310 from the sale of cakes and Fairtrade coffee and tea.

Parents, grandparents and friends of the school were invited to St Joseph's to join in the Macmillan World's Biggest Coffee Morning, and family members were invited to the classrooms to read Roald Dahl books with their children.

Headteacher Gareth Rein said: "It was an extremely enjoyable and successful event, and the children especially enjoyed listening to their parents reading the wonderful stories of the Welsh literary master."

A local representative of Macmillan Cancer Support thanked everyone involved in the St Joseph's event, especially the children who took the time to bake Roald Dahl themed cakes.
