POLICE are appealing for information after jewellery and items of great sentimental value were stolen during a burglary on Plassey Street, Penarth.
The burglary occurred between 11am and 12.55pm on Saturday (October 13).
Police want to recover the stolen property, which includes items belonging to the family's late daughter - including a platinum wedding ring, gold Gucci watch, and a locket of hair.
Further pieces of jewellery taken include a sapphire and diamond engagement ring, a gold owl on a ribbon, a topaz and gold necklace with matching bracelet, diamond earrings, and an oval silver locket engraved with the inscription ‘22/11/2008 to Mum’.
Detective Sergeant Claire Huish, who is leading on the investigation, said: “This incident has been very distressing for the family due to the sentimental value of the items stolen.
“We are appealing to the community for any information so we can trace those responsible. We want to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or any suspicious behaviour in the area, and also anyone who may have been offered any of the items of jewellery.”
