Extracts from the Penarth Times of January 6, 1967:

A Dinas Powys woman, who remembers singing as a young woman in a choir before Queen Victoria, celebrates her 100th birthday today.

The British Amateur Electronics Club, which was started in Penarth only a year ago as the St Cyres Electronic Group, now not only has members in all parts of the British Isles but has just enrolled one in Iran.

Penarth Council on Monday granted an application for an amusement machine with prizes to be installed at the Arcade Cafe.

Trinity Church Young Wives ended another successful year with a Christmas Party in Trinity Hall to which their children, friends and the group's babysitters were invited. After tea, members of the group entertained their guests with a Revue, which included popular items from Mary Poppins and ended with a colourful Nursery Rhyme tableau.

Penarth Council on Monday took the final step to make the twinning of Penarth and the French town of St Pol de Leon a reality.

St Dochdwy Church, Llandough, was beautifully decorated over the Christmas period with evergreens, flowers and lighted candles, together with the Holy Family in the Stable and the focal point of a charming and restful picture, to be savoured by any one who wished to enter the church.

Newport outclassed Penarth by the margin of 33 points at the Athletic Ground last Saturday. Weather conditions were ideal, but underfoot the pitch was soft and treacherous for the first game played at home since November.

Only Ex-Service A managed to reach the end of 1966 with an unbeaten record in the Penarth Darts League. Ex-Service, with 16 points, lead the first division from Railway B who are four points behind with a game in hand.
