ON FEBRUARY, 14 members of Penarth WI held their monthly meeting at the Penarth Conservative Club.

President Mary Berry welcomed everyone to the meeting and told members of the recent sad deaths of the husbands of two of the members - Joyce Churchill and Barbara Foley. Sympathy cards had been sent on behalf of all the members.

On a happier note, past president Marie Lane had celebrated her 80th birthday recently and Mary Yorke is now enjoying retirement.

The business part of the meeting followed and members were told of various upcoming events including the annual council meeting in Port Talbot and a bowls competition in Sully.

The theatre group are going to see Gaslight at the New Theatre and the Lunch Club are going to the Barry College in March. A trip to the Royal Mint is planned for April 20 and payment for this will need to be made at the March meeting.

Visitors from Culverhouse Cross WI and Dinas Powys WI were welcomed to the meeting along with new member Ann Jones.

Members then enjoyed a fashion show of clothes provided by Bon Marche in Barry.

Seven members 'strutted their stuff' modelling two casual outfits each as well as a more formal outfit. The audience enjoyed a really nice display of clothes and the seven models had fun taking part.

Small catalogues of items available at the store, together with discount cards, were distributed.

Mary Yorke gave the vote of thanks and members enjoyed a hot drink and a chat. The raffle was drawn and members all headed home after a very enjoyable afternoon.
