A LLANDOUGH teenager has won two voluntary awards after completing over 100 hours of unpaid work with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB).
Clare Falconer, 18, has been carrying out voluntary work for the RSPB since April 2008.
She received a certificate from the Millennium Volunteers organisation after completing 100 hours of volunteering work and was highly commended for the youngest volunteer of the year award.
She was nominated for both by the RSPB, with her work centred on caring for Peregrine Falcons.
Clare said: “They are amazing creatures. The other day they had a few chicks and it was astonishing watching them.” The RSPB work in conjunction with the National Museum of Wales and now offer a live webcam from the Falcons nest so you can see the birds in action.
“We can see them thoughout the museum and it’s fascinating to watch them,” she added.
“Peregrine Falcons will take any bird in flight and we have witnessed them catch a pigeon.”
You can see the nestcam pictures from City Hall Lawn, Cardiff, between 10.00am-4.00pm from Tuesday to Sunday until August 30.
