A FIRM of surveyors has been appointed to help manage the £4 million project to renovate the Penarth Pier Pavilion.
Penarth Marina-based ChandlerKBS will work as cost managers to assist Penarth Arts and Crafts Ltd in delivering the refurbishment of the Grade II listed landmark, on time and within budget.
Funding of £800,000 has been allocated from the Vale Council and £100,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund, with further applications submitted to CADW and the Welsh Assembly Government.
Construction is scheduled to commence in late 2011 with completion anticipated by March 2013. Once complete, the renovated Pavilion building will include a café, observatory and multipurpose community area.
Julian Kelly, Associate at ChandlerKBS, said: “Penarth Pier and Pavilion building is an iconic landmark on our coastline that has served locals, daytrippers and visitors for over a century.
“We are pleased to be involved with this project that will ensure the future of this facility for years to come.”
