A PENARTH woman has slammed the ‘selfish toe-rag’ who left her housebound, after stealing her mobility scooter from right outside her front door.

Multiple Sclerosis sufferer Sarah Hanshaw, 40, parked and covered the scooter outside her house on Paget Road as normal last Thursday night (June 2).

But when she woke the next day and left the house to go shopping, she made the distressing discovery.

“It was a lovely day on Friday so I thought I would go to Morrisons, but when I opened the door the scooter was gone,” she said.

“Unfortunately, as my other half was away camping, I hadn’t been able to put on the lock which secures it as it is quite awkward for me to do alone.

“Naive I may be, but I did not envisage some heartless person stealing the scooter, cover and all, during the night.”

A former legal secretary from London, Sarah is unable to work because of her condition, but she will now have to pay for a replacement - at a cost of £1,500.

“I hope the amoeba who saw fit to steal what is in effect, my legs, is mighty proud of him or herself,” she added.

“At present, I am housebound, scooter-less and about to be out of pocket, because of some selfish, thieving, toe rag.

“I think they have scraped the very bottom of the pond with this little stunt.”

Sarah’s partner, Jon, said he was in shock.

“We just can’t believe it,” he said.

“Where’s the gain for them? Some people have no conscious.”

Sarah was keen to thank her neighbours and the police.

“On the plus side, my neighbours and PC Mulhern have all been very supportive and I cannot thank them enough,” she said.

The scooter is blue, with four wheels, a small basket on the front, and is missing rear-view mirrors.
