Young musician scoops awards

YSGOL Pen y Garth schoolgirl Jodi Bird took part in the recent South Glamorgan Festival for Young Musicians at the Cathedral School in Llandaff.

Her outstanding performance led to her winning two first prizes at the event, for her interpretation of Amazing Grace, and The Hills are Alive from the Sound of Music.

This is the first time that Jodi has triumphed in two categories much to the delight of her singing teacher Angela Morris Parry.

Jodi is no stranger to the stage, having competed widely at the Urdd Eisteddfod and in the role of Susan in White Christmas at the Millennium Centre.
