Tell us about Penarth life
8:20am Thursday 10th January 2013 in Letters
WHAT is it like to live in Penarth? This year, the Penarth Society hopes to find out what you really think. And we need your help!
Our programme for 2013 will follow the theme “Living in Penarth” and each meeting will feature a different aspect of life in the town.
As an introduction, the first meeting will feature recollections of memorable moments or events that can be shared, going back perhaps to wartime memories. But we don’t want to hear of stories from the newspaper – we want to hear of personal experiences that are somehow special to you or your family – however insignificant they may seem to others – relating to life in Penarth. In this way we can build up an archive to be stored at The Lodge Heritage Centre as a valuable reference amenity. It always helps to have photographs so these would be welcome, originals or copies.
Meetings will be informal, allowing time for discussion, and coffee and biscuits will be provided, with a small charge for non-society members.
If you would like to join the society on the night you will receive quarterly newsletters free of charge giving news of events throughout the year.
Our first meeting is on Wednesday, January 23, at Trinity Church Rooms, Woodland Place, Penarth, commencing at 7.30pm. We do hope you will come along and help to make this project a success.
Topics will be advertised in advance but it should be noted that the February meeting will feature a film of Penarth in the 1960s. Details later!
