Cycle route a big waste
11:42am Thursday 14th March 2013 in Letters
AS A cyclist, should I laugh or weep? I watch as thousands of pounds are spent Tarmac-king and wall-building a so-called cycle route through Dingle Park. Yet I predict no rational cyclist will use it. It will be a pointless diversion on going down Windsor Road when one is free-wheeling along a satisfactorily wide and safe road lane. And it will mean a dangerous double crossing of Windsor Road if going uphill. What a shameful waste of public funds. No doubt council boxes ticked for spending Billybanks development monies and furthering a green transport agenda.
Certainly no genuine value for cyclists. But you know what, I bet cyclists and not the misguided designers will be blamed and accused of being reckless for not using this white elephant. I cannot laugh but I will weep.
