We support speed limit

REGARDING the article Support ‘grows’ for 20mph limit zones (Penarth Times, March 7).

Llandough Community Council has been pressing for speed restrictions in the village for many years, especially a 20mph on the roads in the Dochdwy Road estate.

Residents have complained for many years about the danger of speeding traffic on Dochdwy Road especially in the vicinity of the local primary school and the council has regularly raised this issue with the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

The Community Council welcomes the decision of the Vale of Glamorgan Council to consider the possibility of a 20mph speed limit being introduced in Llandough and will give its full support to any proposals that serve to reduce the potential danger caused by speeding traffic.

The speed of traffic on Leckwith Road has also been a source of significant local concern and has been scheduled as a local PACT priority for a number of years. The Community Council considers that urgent action is needed to control the speed of traffic ensuring that the safety of our local residents is fully addressed. It also welcomes the actions being taken by the ward county councillor as well as the interest taken in this matter by the local MP and Assembly member for the area. Llandough Community Council will continue to support any proposed actions that address the safety of local residents.
