Bus service - use it or lose it

I WAS shocked and appalled to discover that the Leader of the Vale Council used a meeting of full council last week to blame bus users for the loss of rural services.
Rather than taking responsibility for a dire situation and working with bus users to ensure that some kind of service remains in place for those who need it, he offered this advice to those who still have a service, “use it or lose it”.
This was appalling arrogance on the part of a man who clearly doesn’t understand rural communities and he should be ashamed.
The full record of last week's council meeting will be published online in the next couple of days and I would strongly urge residents to take a look for themselves.
Contrary to Cllr Moore's offensive outburst, it is a combination of 12.5 per cent Welsh Labour Government cuts to bus grants and the Vale council's own budget cuts that are causing routes to be withdrawn.
He should offer an immediate and full apology to the many residents who rely on public transport and who have been affected by lost bus routes.
