Got his facts wrong

IN response to Andrew RT Davies’ letter (PenarthTimes, October 3) regarding the recent council meeting.
I am surprised that Andrew RT Davies has made such an attack on me when he was neither at the meeting nor has his facts right.
Once again It seems that Andrew R T Davies is making up stories that suit his political attack on the Vale of Glamorgan Council.
He has alleged I made derogatory remarks at the last full council meeting about the users of buses, which is absolutely incorrect. He has twisted what I said, but this is no surprise as he makes things up on a regular basis to suit his story. What I am concerned about is that people will believe him. It is true that a question was asked about buses. I actually reiterated a comment made by a resident at a recent community cabinet, who commented that to his knowledge only one of the 60+ people in the room who were complaining about buses actually used the bus. I did not make a comment as suggested, but the point the resident made is in some respect accurate, in that for a bus service to be viable people would need to use it. I also made the point that although some services have been lost I would recommend and commended people to use the Greenlinks Services that are available through the Council. I did acknowledge the reasons for the services being withdrawn by the bus operators, but I also confirmed that the Council is carrying out a full and fundamental review of the bus services within the Vale, but that we had initially concentrated on the main bus routes such as the introduction of the 303 service. I did not say “use it or lose it” as alleged.
