WITH only weeks to go until Christmas, Plaid Cymru - The Party of Wales has launched a campaign encouraging people to do as much as possible of their Christmas shopping in local shops this year.
When money is spent in a local independent shop that money stays locally.
Every £1 spent in an independent shop selling local produce puts twice as much money back into the local economy as £1 spent in a supermarket.
Christmas is a vital time for local businesses with many earning up to half of their annual profit during December.
These shops employ local people, are supplied by local businesses, and spend much of their profits in the local community, creating more work.
That is why Plaid Cymru wants to see the Welsh Government using more Welsh companies – because it creates more jobs right across Wales.
As shoppers, we play a vital role in supporting our high streets by just choosing to shop with them.
In Wales, with our strong tradition of food producers and crafts, Christmas is the perfect opportunity to support them.
