THE last thing I want to do is to give Sue Knight another opportunity to inflict the Penarth Times with her views which I feel would be more suited to the Guardian newspaper (Penarth Times, February 27).

I would far rather comment on local issues such as why have they got loading parking restrictions in prime parking places outside Sainsbury stores and other near-by stores. When have you seen any vehicles loading or unloading outside these stores? Surprise, surprise. They do it at the rear of these stores.

I notice this loading area is the favourite first call of the Traffic Enforcement Officers who book motorists who are blissfully unaware that it is illegal to park there until noon each day except Sundays.

Whilst on parking in Penarth. What plans are there to increase parking spaces in the Esplanade area? Bearing in mind the obvious increase in traffic the refurbished Pier and the forthcoming Restaurant will be generating. How about utilising the general area outside the Pier perhaps for disabled motorists, freeing up further spaces where the current disabled spots are?

How about making Bridgeman Road one way and removing the double yellow lines on one side which are totally unnecessary anyway?

Now back to Sue Knight - how dare she suggest that I have repudiated my roots and have voted Tory! I am and always will be proud of my working class background and will vote for the party that supports the worker not the spongers of this world.

With regard to the mining industry. I believe the miners were the hardest working and the finest band of workers ever. I've had a problem with their militant leaders who used them as political pawns to try hold the country to ransom.
