I SHOULD be delighted to be of assistance to your correspondent Ms Montefiore who recently asked for information regarding October 11 1963 broadcast of Dylan Thomas' Under Milk Wood (Penarth Times, March 20).
I am very pleased to confirm that "the children's songs were most certainly recorded at Albert Road Junior School Penarth". The music was composed by Dylan's long time friend Daniel Jones. Douglas Cleverdon produced the play usually referred to as the Richard Burton production due to his powerful performance as the narrator.
I had the privilege of being taught at RWCMD by Thomas Taig who was Dylan's drama advisor on the original 1954 broadcast.
I am similarly very proud of the fact that Albert Road children continue to enjoy their distinguished music tradition today, in the centenary year of Dylan's birth.
