WITH reference to the article on the possible fate of St Paul’s Church in Penarth (Penarth Times, March 27).
It is my opinion that if it proves impracticable to renovate the building to a sufficiently high standard to guarantee its future, or to replace it with a new building in situ, then all funds realised by the disposal of the site should be used to house the Penarth Amateur Boxing Club and Penarth Gymnastics Club, thus enabling them to continue with their invaluable work within our community in future years.
Their work with the youth of Penarth is of considerable social significance and it would be an act of great folly not to support it in every way possible.
As for the suggestion that the money may be used to build a community centre at Penarth Marina, it would be a classic example of the wants of the prosperous taking priority over the needs of the significantly less so.
