I UNDERSTAND from what I have read on the internet 'Annual council payments are revealed' that Vale councillors have been awarded one per cent increase in their salaries, as of this year.
This for some of them, is a second sizeable income. Wouldn't it be lovely to hear, that the Vale councillors had passed a motion to revoke that increase. This would be especially so, given the 'present times of austerity' that we keep hearing about, to justify the annual rates increase.
It would be very welcomed and perhaps go some way to justify the loss of librarians and others, who only have one income and will find it difficult to find other employment at this time.
