IT was pleasing and amazing to read the headlines “Council ponders bridge solution” (Penarth Times, July 10).
Pleasing because residents of Long Meadow and Murch were not to be subject to 14 weeks of misery. No buses, longer car journeys to Barry, including three sets of traffic lights.
Amazing, because earlier this year this very proposal was put in a phone call to Chris Williams, our local councillor, who showed scant interest, said nothing could be done, plans had been passed and the 14 weeks work would go ahead. The same proposal was also put to a councillor at a Saturday meeting in the Lee Hall, who gave a similar response.
It is also surprising that, at the many official visits (long before the land was in the LDP) made to this bridge not one person appreciated this obvious solution.
