Open letter to Stephen Doughty MP about Gaza concerns

First published in Letters

Dear Stephen,

Thank you for your column last week where you talk about your concerns about Gaza (View from Westminster, page 11). I urge you to keep raising this to move the UK government to recognise the power it does have in this matter. We can work with the UN to investigate Israeli war crimes, we can look at DBS and put economic pressure on Israel and we can stop affording them special status as some kind of bastion against the Muslim world. I think it needs all of us to do whatever we can to halt this carnage, otherwise we stand guilty of letting Israel and Hamas continue this violence where more and more Palestinian civilians are butchered by Western arms.

Yours sincerely
