In memoriam

First published in Letters by

I CONSTANTLY view the Penarth Times website and was jolted into grief and sadness when I read of the passing of Roy (Wiggi) Wiggins.

I wish to firstly pass on my deep condolences to Carol and Susan and to his friends.

My name is Martin Williams I was born in Paget Road, Penarth, in 1943 and lived there until emigrating to Australia in 1972. My association with Roy began when I joined the wholesale grocery firm of Charles White located in Andrews Road, Cogan. I was the driver and Roy my offsider. Later on Roy myself and Brian Underhill (also a great friend), went to work at the then concrete works in lower Penarth. In 1964 Roy and I went on holiday together to Spain, we were good mates. A beer or two at the Cefn Mably, Labour Club and The Golden Lion with Roy and co are fond memories for me.

However my main thoughts at present are sorrowful ones and I can only once again say how sad I feel and again pass on my condolences to Roy's family and friends.

My email address is

Martin Williams
