THERE are few places left in Penarth where children can run free, play amongst bushes, trees and grass. One such area is to be found adjacent to St Augustins Church.

Known locally as The Triangle, it has provided space for free play for at least fifty years to my knowledge and I am a relatively newcomer to Penarth.

Speaking with some knowledgeable gentlemen this week, they commented on the fact that the area has become a dog’s lavatory; this is a polite version of what they actually said.

The workers who cut the grass now wear protective clothing to prevent being sprayed with dog faeces. Imagine what it must feel like?

I know how yeuky it is when I’ve stepped in a doggy deposit. How much effort does it take to clear up and use the bins close by?

Dogs owners/lovers exercise their pets in this area. Could they not show the same regard for children who could run around and play here?

This should be an area where families could sit and parents watch their children play. Like Belle Vue Park it is easily accessible to Albert Road School, but this is a hide and seek area. Many moons ago I watched the children in this area play there.
