IN answer to Cllr Moore’s statement in Penarth Times, October 2, I would like to point out that his quote on "Protecting the vast majority of those named on the Cenotaph," by virtue of using the word majority he leaves it open to include others that would not actually include "active servicemen."
My personal view is that this intrepid marine Paul Woodland earned his right to be inscribed by his past active service alone.
I have a view that has been passed to me that this Marine was part of a contingent that was undergoing a Field Fitness Training Exercise at Brecon to prepare for a covert expedition into either the Middle East or an Eastern Block country this however would be difficult to prove.
All power to Ken Skates AM’s attempt to alter this decision by writing to Cllr Gwyn John to assist in his quest through the war memorials in Wales Grants Scheme which has funds to add names to the cenotaph.
