OUR recent celebrations of the 74th anniversary of the Battle of Britain raised a grand total of £1975.54 including £699.84 from our street collections in Penarth town centre on September 19 and 20. A special thanks must go to the Office Bar and Members Club for their generous donation.

May I, on behalf of all our members and committee, thank all those who donated and contributed to our effort, especially the Penarth Air Training Squadron for making this a very successful year. Our thanks also go to the Salvation Army band for providing the music at the service held in Alexandra Gardens on September 14 and to Reverend Lance Clark MBE, Padre from MOD St Athan, who conducted the service.

The monies collected help to support retired and serving RAF personnel, their families and dependants, who need help in their sometimes very difficult times.

We have been in Penarth since 1946 and would welcome any former or serving RAF member, especially WRAF. We also have room for non-RAF members of the public who may wish to join us and enjoy our garden at the Office Bar and Members Club, Headquarters of the Penarth Branch of the RAF Association. Please feel free to join us – 029 20701990.
