WITH reference to the letter from Mr Armstrong. Whilst I accept that there is concern about the local effects of fracking on the local environment which must be properly addressed, on the other points about it being a finite resource, just not using it at all does not make sense.
As far as carbon emissions are concerned, it would be no more than burning Russian gas that it would replace and giving us greater security of supply.
On the use of renewables, these can only be used in households by using electricity, as many households use gas for heating they cannot easily adapt without considerable expense.
