I RESIDE on a memorial seat

For a lady who adorned the vista

On this beautiful late November Sunday

With a hint of winter on autumn’s breath.

Gulls, geese and swans create a raucous noise

But enhance the majestic scene.

The children stare at swans which are their size,

I admire the view, a feast for the eyes

And follow couples along the wooden path

Amongst the treasure of waving reeds.

People and dogs embrace the freedom

As I’m entranced by the golden leaves

Feeling divinity touch my soul.

The grey sky reluctantly retreats

So the lake changes its colour to blue

As a watery autumn sun breaks through.
