I STROLL down Beach Road and then my eyes
Feast on a magnificent sight
The newly restored pier and the channel
Painted with shimmering silver
Under a rich blue November sky.
Winter storms will come soon enough
But now I watch the slumbering sea,
My stress floating with the breeze out of me.
Women with prams, joggers and the elderly
Are to be found on the sedate seafront
As boats drift slowly on the calm water,
Somerset hills, Flat Holm and Steep Holm
Always wonderful in the sunshine
And will be there long after I have gone.
My thoughts are filled with times now long before
As I wander along the pebbled shore.
