YOUR readers may be aware that, over the past six months or so, membership of the Green Party in England and Wales has more than doubled, with new members continuing to join daily.

There are now over 1500 members in Wales. Within the Vale of Glamorgan, membership has mirrored this increase, the number of members having risen from 25 to 50 since November.

For many new members to the Party this may be the first time they have joined a political party.

They, and any other people interested in learning more of the Green Party and its policies, are invited to an evening meeting on Wednesday, February 25 at 7.45pm, at the Bonvilston Reading Room, Bonvilston.

As the Green Party candidate in the Vale I will be happy to answer questions and to discuss policies, as well as meeting members and supporters who would be willing to help during the election campaign e.g. to distribute leaflets, attend hustings, etc.

The ‘Green surge’ in membership would suggest that an increasing number of people are deeply unhappy at the policies and performances of the main political parties and are attracted by the Green Party’s message of the need for major change towards a fairer society, with economic and energy policies that recognise and are guided by principles of equality, conservation and sustainability.
