A REPLY to Ian Perry’s letter on February 19 concerning Speed Humps on Murch Road.

“Too late was the cry”. They have already arrived! I and many others agree with Ian Perry, they are completely unnecessary on Murch Bridge and Murch Road as it is so busy and narrow it is virtually impossible to drive at excessive speeds.

They are a nightmare for drivers of small cars – I know.

Whereas drivers of the many 4 x 4’s and vans are not affected – they can go over them at whatever speed they like.

In fact I was overtaken by one when negotiating the numerous humps on Britway Road alongside The Common.

Who are the people who authorised these and did they actually put any thought into it?
