MID-March in Alexandra Park
I listen to birds sing the songs of spring
As a robin poses and a squirrel scurries.
Daffodils in bloom wave to me
As I admire beautiful bird hedges
And those guarding the pavilion too
Shaped like helmets and enhancing the view.
A seagull perches on the Memorial tower
Dew star-sparkles, the trees still bare
As I observe a young woman on a bench
Taking a “time-out” from the stress of life
On this azure mid-week morning
Where the world seems a lovely place to be
In this picturesque park above the sea.
