Extracts from the Penarth Times of April 9, 1965:

A suggestion was made at Wednesday's meeting of Penarth Development Committee that the Council should investigate the difficulties which would arise if it was decided to develop the 3 3/4-acre Kymin site.

The Caledonian Market at Christ Church Hall on Saturday, March 20, was most successful and raised £70 for the Danybryn Cheshire Home.

The leading fashion wear shops on Penarth combined to present a Spring Fashion Show last week, to aid the Cogan Crash Fund. It raised £100.

This joint venture was the first for the town and must lead the organisers to give serious thought on the wisdom of this for future mannequin parades.

For here surely is the secret to success. In joining forces, the combined business houses were able to present an extensive and varied range of clothes for men and women, complemented by attractive accessories and lingerie.

The ladies of Christ Church have done it again. Not content with providing excellent refreshments at the recent annual general meeting, their several groups combined again to provide coffee for a record number of guests on April 1, under the auspices of the Federation of Congregational Women.

The last fee days of wonderful sunshine and near summer temperatures brought out the first bathers at Sully beach, and also for the first time this year, the sailing enthusiasts.

Conditions were perfect last Saturday when Penarth hit top form against Bridgwater and Albion, and in a fine open game they overwhelmed their English opponents by 27 points to 11. This was rugby at its best.

Two hard-fought games last Saturday and Sunday earned Penarth victories over two of the West Country's strongest sides. What is even more impressive that the Welsh club thus completed "the double" for the season over each of these highly regarded opponents.

Penarth stormed to an excellent 16-points victory over Pontypridd, at the Recreation Ground on Monday, and although the game did not match Saturday's brilliance, the Seasiders were well worth the win.
