A PATHWAY of silver sparkles

In the placid February sea

Caused by a watery winter sun

Air with a hint of spring’s breath.

Steep Holm and Flat Holm are framed

By mountainous cumulous clouds

As the tide slurps against the pebbled shore.

I enjoy this time for it’s not long before

More rain and grim skies arrive.

But now it’s fine and a dog

Runs into the silvery channel

And an elderly couple admire the pavilion

Then leisurely stroll on the boardwalk

To the sound of seagulls and half-term children.

I am hypnotised by the winter sea

Feel tranquillity with my soul set free.
