IN 2013, Dyffryn House was leased by the Vale of Glamorgan Council to the National Trust for a period of 50 years, in the hope to boost local and national tourism and bring more money to the area.

Terry Walton, BBC Radio Wales, 'Show Your Pride in the Garden this springtime' (Letters, April 23) invites readers to visit Dyffryn Gardens to see its beautiful grounds in bloom and gain some gardening inspiration.

I would love to visit, but there are no direct public transport links within the Vale of Glamorgan serving this jewel in the crown of National Trust Wales.

I joined Greenlinks Community Transport service; however this operates on Wednesdays and Fridays only, for residents of urban areas, including Penarth, and does not run on weekends.

The bus service X2 runs from Cardiff through the A48 to St Nicholas. Getting off on the main road and walking down Dyffryn Lane where there are no pavements is arguably unsafe, especially for younger and older people.

Thank you Terry, for a lovely idea as summer approaches, but unfortunately those without their own transport are missing out, and year after year will continue to. It is a real pity to limit the accessibility of Dyffryn, and ultimately a loss of revenue for the National Trust and the Vale of Glamorgan local economy.
