I PASS bluebells swaying in the breeze

Then my eyes are enthralled by the sight

Of Cosmeston Lakes coloured in blue

Mirroring the warm mid-May sky

With ribs of white cloud high above

The clear wrinkled water of the lake.

I spot swans, blackbirds, ducks and seagulls too

Who could ask for a more wonderful view?

A swan chases ducks out of the water

Where they flap wings to show their ire.

A child feeds a swan by the side of the lake

As dogs and their owners head towards the woods

Or on the boardwalk by golden reeds.

It's far away from the troubles of the world

I relax and let the sun warm my brow

Forgetting all woes...contented for now.
