I feel I had to write this letter regarding the recent article in the Barry & District where Shirley Hodges is demanding Councillor Rob Curtis' resignation over his recent court case.

Firstly, I would like to say that Rob has been a member of the circuit classes at Barry Leisure for many years, of which I also attend. You could not meet a kinder, friendlier guy who is passionate about Barry and wildlife.

We all wanted him to carry on with his circuit while this case has been ongoing, which just shows the reputation, as a decent man, he has.

Prior to this case, Rob's name was in your paper regularly regarding different things he's done or got involved in for this town - so many I could not start to list them all - but the majority of this town, whatever politics, would have to agree with that statement.

Regarding his statement in the B&D, he has been totally honest, which I personally admire him for, and do not feel he is "painting himself as a victim" to quote Shirley Hodges.

I'm sure there are many women who during their lifetime could have taken men to court several times a year for friendly gestures that could have been misconstrued as something else, but experience and knowledge of hat person makes you know it's an innocent reaction to the situation you're in, or talking about.

Rob, in his statement, has actually apologised to the young lady and her family, stating it was not intended as anything sexual, only a friendly gesture.

The case has gone to court - it is over!

As the Vale of Glamorgan council has said, he will not be removed from his position due to the outcome of the trial - give a huge sigh of relief Barry - we need people like him on the council, so let's all support him and move on!
