PENARTH and District Quilters will be holding their regular Summer Exhibition at the Paget Rooms in Victoria Road, Penarth, on Thursday, July 9 when some 40 quilts will be on display, plus wall-hangings, cushions, and other sewing-related items.

The doors open at 11am sharp and the exhibition closes at 4pm. The £3 entrance fee includes a cup of coffee or tea and a big slice of delicious homemade cake.

Our chosen charity this year is Tenovus, whose motto is 'Give hope. Help cope.' The latest statistics show that there were just over 18,000 new cases of cancer diagnosed in 2012 and the number is on the rise.

As part of our fundraising campaign, we have worked together as a group to produce a beautiful Double Pinwheel quilt in bright spring colours which we plan to raffle. The tickets cost £1 each and will be available at the exhibition or else they can be ordered from me on 02920 701876.

The draw will take place at our AGM on November 22 this year. All proceeds will go to Tenovus

There will also be a sales table with lots of bargains for experienced and novice sewers alike, a books and magazine stall, and two tombola stalls, one for fabric and one for tote bags.

We look forward to seeing our old friends again on July 9 and to making new ones.
