Extracts from the Penarth Times of August 13, 1965:

£100,000 is being invested by the Penarth based firm of Price Bros in their new factory at Penarth Docks. The factory is expected to be in production in September or early October and will occupy over 50,000 square feet.

The indifferent weather during Penarth Holiday Week did not deter the youngsters of the town, or visitors, from seeking out the "Golden Numbers" displayed by various traders throughout Penarth, and the adjudicating committee was inundated with hundreds of completed entry forms.

The Junior Welsh Tennis Championship opens at Penarth Lawn Tennis Club in Rectory Road on Monday and continues throughout the week.

A striking and fitting end to Penarth's Holiday Week festivities was the Procession of Witness, held on Sunday, August 1.

Nearly all organisations in Penarth had contributed something appropriate to their activity during the week and as the churches play such an important part in the life of the community, the Holiday Week Committee unanimously agreed that this ceremony would be a fitting finale.

The open-air services "Sunday at Eight - The Sunset Hour," held for some years on the Cliff Walk near the shelter every Sunday at eight o'clock during the summer months, now take place at a new time and venue.

Despite the absence of a number of familiar faces, due no doubt to the summer holidays. Penarth Motor Boat and Sailing Club's weekend events were well attended, and had it not been "Cadets only" on Saturday, a greater number would have doubtless competed on the day.

Unable to run their Single Wicket tournament during Penarth Holiday Week as part of the celebrations, Penarth Cricket Club redated it for last Sunday at the Recreation Ground. On this occasion the weather was more than kind, the sun was a most welcome visitor.
