LARGELY thanks to the Penarth Times and some hard-working volunteers, Penarth’s latest event, Grow Show Share is coming together well.

The entries have come in and banners are up around the town. An unexpected spin-off from the publicity has been an interest in starting a gardening club in Penarth.

A few people have now decided that starting a club is possible, provided it is open to all and is not likely to grow into an administrative nightmare with rules and regulations!

Anyone interesting in joining an informal club which will enable gardeners to swap cuttings, discuss diseases, the weather and other topics that enthral the green-fingered, is welcome to come along to Grow Show Share at St Augustine’s Church on Saturday, September 19 from 11am – 5pm and Sunday, September 20 from 12noon – 4.15pm, and visit the gardening club table – or email: friendsofstaugustinespenarth@yahoo.co.uk or phone 02920 707828.

We need people with ideas, enthusiasm and of course a few green fingers.

Hope to see you at Grow Show Share.

Tricia Griffiths (chair, Friends of St Augustine’s)
