Extracts from the Penarth Times of September 24, 1965:

Last Sunday was a day of Harvest Festivals in Penarth, for Albert Road Methodist, Tabernacle Baptist and Stanwell Road Baptist all had theirs on the same day.

Many people were disappointed at the lack of co-ordination which meant that visitors from other churches were prevented from attending because of their sense of duty to their own place of worship.

A plan to build a public house on the corner of Wordsworth Avenue and Hastings Place will not get the support of Penarth Council when it comes before the Glamorgan County Council for planning consent.

Penarth Council has been asked to help in the upkeep of the grassed area in the Garden Village development at Cogan Brickworks, the Parks Committee was told at its meeting on Monday.

Penarth RAFA joined branches all over Britain in inaugurating a special service of dedication to mark Battle of Britain week.

This short, simple ceremony took place on Wednesday evening last week at the Club at exactly the same minute as it was being observed by branches all over the country.

Only 15 members were at the Institute on Tuesday evening of last week for the annual general meeting of the Sully Ladies' Indoor Bowling Club.

Sully took the Force 10 gale on Friday night in its stride, and a tour around the village revealed only slight damage. Gardens had suffered the worst it seems, rose trees and flowering shrubs being blown out of the ground, and flower beds flattened. But we were all thankful not to hear the dreaded sound of a rocket going up, and the lifeboat going out on its errand of mercy.

Sully was honoured on Wednesday of last week, when Sully bowling Club was the green chosen for the playing of the County match against South Wales and Monmouthshire.
