DEAR editor,

Wishing to support our local council I was one of those people who attended the Paget Rooms on Wednesday evening to attend the National Theatre Live performance advertised on the poster outside.

Alas we waited in vain.

The doors were closed and the lights were out. If the performance had been cancelled was it too much trouble for the council to put a notice on the door to that effect?

At least then we all would have been able to hop over to the Odeon in Cardiff Bay and catch the performance there.

Luckily none of us had bought tickets in advance. Not that this is without problems.

I had unsuccessfully tried to purchase a ticket for the previous performance only to be told as "Alice isn't here I can’t help you" by a council employee.

I asked if I could leave the money for a ticket and pick it up at the door only to have the same refrain "Alice isn't here, she does tickets". I asked if I could have some information on future performances. That was too difficult a question.

I pointed out what appeared to be a hand written list on the wall. But perhaps it was too difficult to read.

After all it appeared to be in Alice's handwriting. Perhaps only she can read it! I gave up.

I left my contact details but no one contacted me. Perhaps Alice hadn't returned. I wondered if it had anything to do with getting lost in a rabbit hole. Ah well.

If our council wants to make this venture a success they really need to get organised and advertise what is on. A poster in the town/outside the library or information in the local papers would let people know what is happening.

There appeared to be less than 100 people in the last performance. This is such a shame and lost opportunity.

As for us left out in the dark and cold. Next time the warm, comfy seating and good coffee of the Odeon cinema seems like a better option.
