DEAR editor,
I was very pleased to hear the announcement by Cardiff Council that more 20mph zones are to be introduced in the city.
Over the past 12 months, we in Plaid Cymru have been strongly campaigning for such zones in Cardiff and in Penarth. We've delivered more than 10,000 campaign leaflets overall, including many in Penarth, and the response has been overwhelming.
On every street, the vast majority of residents have supported the introduction of such zones.
I welcome Cardiff Council's decision and I urge the Vale of Glamorgan Council to take similar action and make progress as soon as possible. They should introduce new zones as widely as possible to have the maximum impact.
If we can succeed in getting a town-wide 20mph residential speed limit in Penarth, it will make the town safer for us all and a more pleasant place to live, work and play.
