WHY is Penarth and it seems, all the surrounding areas, undertaking a policy of tree carnage? It really has to stop now.
Apparently, trees with a little yellow tag are marked for felling. I was walking through Dingle Park this morning and counted 21. This included a perfectly healthy, very old Oak.
Back in the 80s and 90s, I was a tree surgeon and I am proud to say, I saved many more trees than I ever felled - even if the customer requested the tree be felled.
One of the trees by the bench in Dingle Park has a hole at the base of the trunk. It’s been tagged. Why? The tree is perfectly fine.
Don’t they know the living part of a tree is the outer part? A tree can be completely hollow yet functioning and healthy.
What’s going on here? Does somebody have family in a tree felling company? Is it health and safety or environmental health gone even further out their minds? This is completely unnecessary, wanton destruction for no apparent reason.
What about the carnage down at the marina? God help us when that landslide goes - and it will, now they’ve devastated the woodland that was there.
Don’t worry about the birds. They can nest somewhere else. They can go on Google Earth to see where there’s other nesting sites. Oh look. There aren’t any because this is Penarth. See a tree, chop it down.
Come on people. What are we going to do about this?
