I AGREE that the car park at the end of the proposed new walkway would be an unacceptable visual intrusion, but hope that there is a viable alternative.

If the Kymin can be woken from her 100 year slumber, the whole of the shrubbery by the Kymin steps could be turned into an informal car park with trees as has been done at Cosmeston.

The ugly parking and hedge in front of the house itself could go, and the raised, totally unused barbecue area should be levelled to join the lawn, giving a much larger and more useable space, with stunning views over the sea and the pier.

Now with a much closer distance to the foreshore, a sunbathing terrace could link the garden to the new walkway and a short lift could cater for the elderly and disabled.

I envisage railings to tie in with the esplanade and the natural rocks of the barbecue area re-used to replace the concrete wall fronting Beach Road.

These are only details, but it would be interesting to know if the idea is possible and what people think.
