REFERENCE to the letter from Dr Mary Edwards, Penarth Times, June 2.
I recognise the fact that car parking is a problem in Penarth.
I find it unbelievable that she thinks the previous car park which was demolished was an example of “brutalism in architecture” and in time (how long) many people would come to admire it.
Penarth is a small town with a small esplanade. It doesn’t attract many swimmers or sunbathers. We don’t need a car park to spoil the area left of the pier.
Where else in the country would you see a car park in the area of a small beach?
I beg your newspaper to assess this and run a campaign against it.
We have parking on the hill, the cliff and at the site of the barrage. Most winter days there is plenty of space to park.
Don’t spoil a thing of beauty for the few weeks of summer.
