THROUGH your paper the members of the Barry Committee of Action Medical Research wish to express their gratitude to the head teachers and staff of Albert Primary School, Cogan Primary School, Dinas Powys Primary School, Evenlode Primary School, Fairfield Primary School, Llandough Primary School, St Andrews C/W Primary School, St Joseph’s RC Primary School, Victoria Primary School, Ysgol Pen y Garth, St Cyres High School, the staff of the Principality Building Society and staff of Santander Penarth for purchasing cream teas in our recent fundraising event held on July 8.

Their willingness to participate and the generous support given have been very much appreciated.

Our thanks are also given to Windsor Fruit Stores who provided all the strawberries and Sainsburys, the Co-op of Windsor Road, Tesco at the Marina and Morrisons of Sports Village who provided the scones.

The friendly supportive attitude of all staff approached was a delight and made the effort so much more rewarding.

Rhonda’s Dairies donated the cream and the teas were accompanied by jam from Wilkins and Son and tea from Yorkshire tea.

We raised £1,000 in Penarth, Dinas Powys and Llandough alone. The money will be used to fund research into the prevention and cure of childhood illnesses and disabilities.

We hope that everyone enjoyed the event and will participate again next year.

A big, big thank you to all those involved.
