FURTHER to my letter last week on the new rule regarding dogs having to be on leads around the main lake at Cosmeston, our two Jackapoos have embarked upon a campaign of civil disobedience.

Bronwen has been strutting her stuff around the lake and Dilys, who has been confined to the house, has taken to cyber terrorism and has busied herself, setting up a Facebook page.

However, I have news, I have received an email from Aaron Jones, site ranger at the park, who has assured me that, while the council reserves the right to enforce the rule that...

“There are no current plans to introduce on-the-spot fines for dogs off lead or in restricted areas in the country parks.

“Should a decision be taken at some point in the future to change this, I can assure you there would be appropriate consultation at that time.

“My chief officer, Bob Guy, is not only responsible for the country parks, but also tourism and regeneration, including the dog-friendly tourism initiative.

“He has given me this assurance.”

Bronwen and Dilys are now planning a visit to show Mr Jones their gratitude and appreciation, this will no doubt involve his lap, uncontrollable tails and lots of kisses.
