I AM struck by the first two letters in this week’s Penarth Times (Thursday, December 8).
The first by John Foley is a measured, considered argument, not once throughout its length does it deviate from its calm look and take of the issue.
The second letter by G Brookman is the exact opposite, it is trite and anything but measured, bringing out four of the most commonly utilised nasties.
The first sentence seems to attempt the use percentage of electorate to insinuate that we’re stuck with a minority voted Assembly.
He ‘imagines’ the AM will attempt anything to thwart Brexit.
The hoped for derailment of the gravy train (this sentence is, to my mind, contradictory – the Assembly is a democratically elected body and I presume that it is this body he considers to be the gravy train).
The last point is, of course, the clincher – if there is any doubt whatsoever that you may not have the full attention of the reader, use apartheid, it works every time.
Mr Brookman, your letter is just plain silly.
