I WAS invited to a special event, Voices of Wales, hosted at the Senedd in Cardiff Bay to celebrate St David’s Day on March 1.
During the event, Llywydd of the National Assembly Elin Jones AM, patriotically opened the event with an outstanding speech.
Among those who made speeches were Bethan Jenkins AM, the chair of the National Assembly’s Culture, Welsh Language and Communications Committee, and John Rostron, co-founder of the Swn Music Festival.
The event featured performances by Beaufort Male Voice Choir, Kizzy Crawford, Aled Rheon, Danielle Lewis and more.
Beaufort Male Voice Choir sang some prominent Welsh choral classics which you would expect from a Welsh choir including, I bob un sy’n ffyddlon, Calon Lan and finally Tydi a Roddaist.
It was a very entertaining and thoroughly enjoyable concert to watch. The performances reminded me of the extraordinary talent and musical taste that we have in this country.
What a way to mark St David’s Day, the National Day of Wales.
The stage was very colourful and so were the performances that featured.
I was especially impressed with the leaflets available at the event for those visiting the Senedd who have autism and/or sensory issues.
I look forward to visiting the Senedd in the near future for similar events.
